Trader Joe’s Corn Cookie Baking Mix Review, Taste Test, and Variations

Grandpa and I love to shop at Trader Joe’s. I like their healthy food and their reasonable prices and Grandpa loves to taste all of their free samples. Unfortunately, for the past few months, they have not been giving out any samples of their new products to taste. One of their new products is Trader Joe’s Corn Cookie Baking Mix.

We purchased Trader Joe’s Corn Cookie Baking Mix and decided to film a taste test and review of it so you can get a good idea of what it is and how it tastes. The cookies were very easy to make. You only need to add two sticks of butter and one egg to the baking mix. Then you form the dough into small balls and place them on a parchment lined cookie sheet and bake them. The container says that it makes 24 cookies, but we ended up making 35 cookies. We used an average sized cookie scoop to form our dough balls and it made three pans of cookies with 12 cookies on a pan. The dough spreads out quite a bit when it bakes so you want to leave plenty of space on your cookie sheet between the balls of raw cookie dough.

The cookies looked beautiful and tasted like sugar cookies with a corn flavor. We’re not the biggest sugar cookie fans and we thought they were a bit too sweet and a little too bland so we decided to add some more flavor to them and made a few variations. We rolled the dough for one cookie in parmesan cheese, another cookie in smoked paprika, and another cookie in black pepper. All three of the variations came out nice and we enjoyed tasting the different flavors. We liked how the different ingredients all worked well with the basic cookie mix and the smoked paprika cookies ended up being our favorites since they made the cookies taste like bacon!
